I am curious. I post nearly all of my blog posts onto Facebook, but I'm wondering how many people might still find these posts and read them if I didn't. I'm also curious who is clicking here via some non-Facebook link.
So here is the game I want to play. I am not going to link to this post on Facebook. If you are reading this post, even if it's months after I posted it, let me know by commenting below! I'm asking you to emerge from the anonymity of cyberspace and say hello, whether I know who you are or not. You don't even have to use your real name--I just want to know how many of you exist, and to see it beyond the simple stats Blogger gives me.
:-) <==== (That's a friendly smile to encourage you out of hiding.)
Since there's probably not going to be very many of you, let's make it a little more fun. Here are some (optional) additions to your comments:
You can tell me about a quick memory or image of fall,
and/or,
You can tell me what song lyrics are currently stuck in your head.
I'll start. I remember that, as a child, I knew fall was coming when my toes started getting cold at the end of a day running around barefoot through my backyard. And thanks to a certain three year old, this is in my head: "Be still, my heart, I'm hardly breathing. He's such a tall, dark, strong and handsome BRUTE!"
Gratuitous baby picture:
Aaaaaaaand, GO!

Annnnnd first place goes to Shaina! Ha, I always read your blog, Stephanie! I have the link saved on my blog on the side, and it tells me when my friends' blogs were updated. But if I see it on Facebook first, I admit to clicking on it from there. So that's how I read this 30 minutes after you posted it. :)
For me, fall was when my Mom started making SOUPS. They made our house smell so yummy and feel so cozy when I came inside with cold hands and nose.
You made me start singing that Disney song when I read it, but before that it was The Wise Man and the Foolish Man primary song because Jay came home singing it today. :)
PS it's getting harder and harder to "prove you're not a robot" when trying to comment on a blog! I'm on my 4th try right now. I promise, I'm not a robot!
I read it! It's on my blog roll, so it pops up on my to-read list.
I'm with Shaina--you're on my list of blogs, but sometimes I link from Facebook. It's a convenience thing :-)
One of the things I love about fall is the smell of wood burning stoves. We had one growing up, and when I was outside (especially around twilight) I could smell it in the air. When mixed with that slight chill that comes with autumn it gets me in the mood for hot chocolate!
The song in my head today is "The Wheels on the Bus," because my kids were making up their own verses after church (evidently, even though mommies go "shush" on the bus, Daddies say "I love you." I think we should switch!)
I'm reading! And from my blog roll, not Facebook.
You're on my blog roll too, so I see every time you update. :) And for me, the start of school always meant the beginning of fall, even if it was still hot outside.
I follow through Google reader, but sometimes I click over from facebook. The lyrics that are always stuck in my head lately are the theme songs from Dora and Diego. The life of a mom, I guess :)
You're on my blog roll too. The current songs stuck in my head are popcorn popping and the peanut song we sang for FHE tonight!
You're on my blog roll too. And I know my mom won't comment but she is the hit you're getting from Memphis. She likes to stalk my friends :)
The song in my head today is These Are Days by the 10,000 Maniacs. Chilly mornings like today remind me of this song and this song always makes me think of Autumn. Matt and I started dating in October, we were married the next October, then had our first baby the following October. So, yeah.
"These are the days you might fill with laughter until you break. These days you might feel a shaft of light make it's way across your face. And when you do you'll know how it was meant to be see the signs and know they're speaking to you. To you."
Hmmmm. Maybe I'll blog about it...
Why hello. I follow 3 blogs quite religiously, and yours is definitely one! Took me 4 days to find this post without a Facebook link, but I'm still proud. Go me!
Anyway, fall is here when I get my first cold. I currently have a cold. Means I get to eat ice cream though! (It's too unhealthy to eat when I'm healthy.) And "Call Me Maybe" will not go away. I've been trying to make it disappear. But then something even worse like the Oscar Mayer Bologna song pops in to take its place. (My managers sang it this morning before the store opened. Yes, I said managers.)
That is all! Hope you're enjoying your favorite season! I wish you many colored leaves and caramel apples and pumpkin-flavored foods!
This is great! Thanks for all who have, so far, participated in my little experiment. :-) Also, it's clear that blogging is more fun when there's some degree of conversation involved. I think I'll recommit to commenting more on the blogs I read. I look forward to other stragglers who'll pop in a bit later!
I just go to everyone's blog I would like to see every once in a while. Sometimes if they blog all the time, I check them once a day. Other times, I check and they still have the same post up, so I just keep checking occasionally. This time, I happened to notice through facebook.
I love the fall! Houston doesn't really get a real fall. All the oak trees shed their leaves in the spring so that's when I go stepping on leaves. One of my favorite things about Virginia in the fall was stepping on the leaves and hearing the crunch underneath my feet. When I started dating Taylor in the fall, we went on lots of walks, holding hands, listening to the crunch of the leaves beneath us.
I have a certain line stuck in my head from a song. "Why she had to go, I don't know, she didn't say... I said something wrong, now I long for yesterday". Poor Beatles, longing for yesterday!
